Denso Tape is a cold-applied anti-corrosion wrapping tape made from a durable synthetic fibre fabric that is impregnated and coated with a petrolatum compound. It is used to protect buried or exposed pipes, valves and fittings against corrosion, and is also used on tie bars, post-tensioned rods and cables.
 
No heat or special equipment is needed. Clean the surface and remove loose rust, scale and flaking coatings, apply Denso Paste or Denso Priming Solution (sold separately), then wrap the tape spirally around the pipe with at least a 55% overlap and smooth the compound with a gloved hand. The manufacturer states an application temperature of -5 °C to +45 °C.
 
The tape is resistant to water, water vapour and gases and to mineral acids, alkalis and salts, and as non-hardening and non-cracking. Because the system stays non-setting, the wrap can be unwrapped for inspection and re-wrapped afterwards.
